Rod Faubion, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully April 12, 2025 in Kenmore, Washington, surrounded by loved ones. He was 90 years old.
Rod was born on July 7, 1934, in Chelan, WA. His life was full of love: love of family, love of travel, love of nature, and a passion for all things in the world around him - birds, rocks, trees, mushrooms and so much more. He was the son of Henry Findlay Faubion and Ila Sarah Faubion (Brumbaugh) and grew up in Manson, Washington, where he fell in love with his forever wife Miriam Faubion (Griffiths).
After serving in the Army, he attended the University of Puget Sound to study geology, which led to a decades long career as a geologist in the PNW.
Beyond his professional life, his passion for adventure travel kept him and Miriam very busy. They traveled to many unusual places including North Korea and Afghanistan. Consistent with their love of travel, they welcomed Brazilian exchange student, Livia Cais, who, along with her children, remain close to the family to this day.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam, of 68 years, their children, Cynthia, Jess, Gary and Dana Faubion and his dearest sister Arita Pittman of Manson.
Roderick’s legacy lives on through his 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed. He was a brilliant listener, slow to speak, quick to laugh and always ready with a warm smile.
A family memorial will be held on the Puget Sound according to Rod’s wishes.
